We’ve been working really hard here at One Hundred Acres Home for year now. So this summer, we decided to have more fun! There is a great lake nearby, and we decided to try out some low-cost inflatable standup paddle board we found on Amazon.com. This post will show you the ins and outs of the inflatable standup paddle boards we used to make the most of the summer.
How to Inflate an Inflatable Standup Paddle Board
Below is a photo of me inflating the blowup paddle board. The board comes with the hand pump I’m using. It does the job but takes a few solid minutes of work to inflate.
The air pump has a gauge that shows the PSI pressure you’re at while inflating the board. 15 PSI is the target max pressure. I was so happy to finally reach it!
Below is a photo of the air intake valve on the paddle board. If you look closely, you can see it notes 15 PSI maximum air pressure.
Fins on a Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
Below is a close up of the underside fins of the stand up paddle board. There are two smaller permanently attached fins on each side near the rear of the board. One larger center fin is removable for easier transport. You can see the removable fin laying on the board in the photo below.
The removable fin slides into a grove attached to the paddle board. Then a small plastic clips locks it in place. The photo below shows you the small clip.
Paddle for Stand Up Paddle Board
Here is the top side of the blow up paddle board. The bungee chords are nice to hold your gear. That paddle also comes with the board and is adjustable in length. The standing area has a nice grippy platform to help you while standing.
Transporting an Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board
Below is a photo of how we transported the paddle boards to the lake by using the truck lumber rack. This trusty, low-glam, work truck has come in handy for almost ALL the projects here at One Hundred Acres Home. No need to buy a massive truck when this will get it done.
Below is a quick video of me holding and walking with the inflatable paddle board. It is really lightweight and easy to maneuver.
Using an Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board on a Lake
Below is a photo of me on the stand up paddle board at the lake! Standing up takes a little practice but really is not hard in calm water. I did have to sit down when a boat with big waves ran by. But even if you fall in, the paddle board has an ankle strap to keep you attached to your board. Plus, make things easy for yourself and always wear a life jacket! That way, if you fall in, its no big deal.
There I am getting a little further from shore. Once you get the hang of the paddle, you can move pretty quickly.
Storage Pack for Inflatable StandUp Paddle Board:
My husband and I decided to pack a lunch in some dry bags, aka, waterproof backpacks. They fit great on the front end of the paddle boards. Below is a photo of my dry bag on the paddle board as I get ready to back into the water.
Here is a close up of the waterproof bag. It has a nice bungee area of extra stuff and also comes with a waterproof phone case. We paddled out across the lake and had a great picnic! Made for a really fun day at the lake.
