Last week I brutishly dug up and transplanted some large lilac bushes to a better location. That had me pulling the garden cart around the yard with the new transplants as you can see in the photo below. I realized that the tires on this cart are totally shot. I honestly despise having to constantly reinflate the tires whenever I use the garden cart. They seem to always be flat. So let’s install never flat tires! This post will show you how to upgrade your tires to a never flat tire garden cart.
Old Rubber Tires:
Here is a close up of my worn out rubber tires. Yes, I did them dirty and hardly ever checked if they were inflated before dragging the cart around the yard. Eventually the rubber ripped as you can see. The inner tubes are also shot.
Believe it or not, I did buy a replacement rubber tube because they are cheaper than a full replacement tire. But, to do this, you have to wrestle the tire off the rim. Then re-install the tire around with the rim with the new tube. In that process, I somehow managed to get a hole in the new tube. Haha. So I still had a flat tire with wasted money and time.
Never Flat Tires:
Enough of always having to re-inflate tires! Enough of perpetually flat tires! I went to the hardware store and was amazed to find these brilliant never flat tires for my garden cart. They are basically stiff, durable plastic tires on a metal wheel. You can see on the label below that they fit garden carts and hand truck or moving dollies.
Below is a photo of the new never flat tire next to an old beat up rubber tire. The never-flat came with locking washer options. So make sure to check how your wheel is held in place. The wheels I’ve linked on Amazon.com come with washers, so you should be OK there. It is like a 5 minute install to get the never-flat tires on.
