To the Woods with an Acreage Fixer Upper

Hi there, I’m Sarah. Welcome to One Hundred Acres Home. I’ll be sharing all the home, garden, and landscape projects for the acreage fixer upper my husband and I bought a few years ago. It came with two small homes. And, believe me, EVERYTHING needed a lot work. 🙂

Here’s the Main House. Oh my! So much potential!

The property came with a slightly smaller second house, called the Front Cabin. Isn’t it cute? Thankfullly ,this one is in better condition than the main house, so my husband, and I plan to move in here while we fix up the larger main house.

Before we bought this acreage fixer upper, my husband and I lived in a large metropolitan area, working 9-6 day jobs, mostly sitting a computers all day. While we were both happy to have stable jobs, we wanted more. More space, more trees, more freedom. And maybe a little less people everywhere.

I wanted to build real things and actually fix stuff with my own hands instead of only “building” things on a computer. My husband is not as handy (but improving!). He was happy to find affordable housing that could potentially set ourselves up for an early retirement if we wanted. Thankfully, we both were able to transition to work remote, and the internet connection here was *just* good enough to do that.

So we jumped all in! Would we have bought this place if we knew how much work was in store for us? Ha! …well yes, but its probably better we didn’t know. 🙂 The acreage is a continual work-in-progress. We learn as we go. Glad to have you join us.
