Macaroni and cheese with hot dogs was a staple favorite as a kid. Now that I’m supposedly an adult, I try to eat a bit healthier and get more vegetables into my daily diet. This healthier, more adult version of macaroni and cheese with hot dogs is a favorite recipe here at One Hundred Acres Home. Hope you love it as much as we do!

Ingredients
- 1 Medium Yellow Onion chopped
- 1 tbsp Chopped Garlic
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 boxes Organic or Premium Macaroni and Cheese Try Annie's Organic White Shells and Cheddar or Velveta Shells and Cheddar
- 4 Organic or Premium Hot Dogs Sliced into rounds. Try slicing at a diagonal for an adult sophisticated flare!
- 2 cups Frozen or Fresh Chopped Broccoli You can add other veggies to taste
Instructions
- Start the two boxes of macaroni and cheese in a separate pot. Keep an eye on this and add pasta once the water is boiling. Follow the box directions for the macaroni and cheese.While the water for the pasta is heating up, grab a large frying pan and sauté the chopped onion in olive oil to start caramelizing for 2-3 minutes over medium heat. Add chopped garlic and sliced hot dogs. Let sauté for about 5 minutes until onions are caramelized and hot dog slices well heated. Remember to check your macaroni and cheese! Address pasta as needed. Back to the frying pan. Add chopped broccoli. Stir and cover medium/low heat. Cover to cook broccoli, stirring occasionally, until broccoli is cooked to desired taste. Finish box directions for Macaroni and cheese. Ready to eat! For each serving, scoop the desired amount of macaroni and cheese into a personal serving bowl. Top with sautéed onions, hotdogs and broccoli. Finish with fresh ground pepper and red pepper flakes or season to taste. Enjoy!Makes about 4 servings
